Peter Scott – Artist

Margaret River Fine Artist Peter Scott finds endless inspiration for his subject matter from this picturesque and ever changing South West region. With his impressionist style, Peter’s paintings capture memorable moments that people can relate to, either from past experience or from a place of imagination.

Peter was born in 1955 in Bunbury, Western Australia and currently lives in Margaret River with his wife Mari. After completing a Diploma in Graphic Design in 1974 and working in advertising and Furniture manufacturing, Peter Scott gave up his employment in 1992 to become a full-time visual artist and has been teaching and exhibiting ever since.

Throughout his 43 years as a visual artist Peter’s work has been featured in 17 Solo and 26 Joint Exhibitions, and he has become a valued Art Lecturer. He has accumulated thirty-five prizes and awards, including first place prizes in the WA Society of Art, and the Pastel Society of WA. Peter was also selected three times in the ANL Maritime Art Prize and Exhibition – a national touring award. His paintings are represented in multiple private collections worldwide.

Recently Peter has changed his painting style further by incorporating the use of Palette knives. Applying heavier textural applications and more defined directional strokes allows the light to bounce and reflect in a far stronger and more emotive way, truly expressing the amazing changing lights and atmospheres of this wonderful region.
